The new Jackson County Jail is a state of the art facility that includes inmate housing for 98 male and 12 female detainees on a new 4 acre site. The new facility provides core support functions that include offices for the Sheriff and his staff; a Hearing Room; an enclosed Vehicle Sallyport; Intake, Booking and Processing Areas; a Medical Triage including Exam and Treatment Facilities; Kitchen, Food Service Storage Areas and Laundry facilities, all designed for a future population of over 200 inmates. The construction is seismically designed of steel and precast concrete columns, beams and roof deck with interior walls of reinforced concrete masonry. The exterior walls are brick veneer and precast concrete with energy efficient window glazing, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. Construction began in March 2015 and was completed the summer of 2016.
