Project Description

The Perkins-Everitt Lighting & Controls Experience Center is a bold step in a new direction for the owner, a lighting manufacturer representative. Part lighting gallery, design studio, and community gathering space, the building brims with real-life installations that help designers bridge the gap between concept and final design. With over a hundred different types of light fixtures, twenty different ceiling types and treatments, and fresh, vibrant finishes throughout, the Perkins-Everitt Experience Center exists to inspire the imagination of designers and owners and to change the way the agency interacts with its customers and its community.

The poorly-maintained 1970s-era building had major damage to existing walls and ceilings, so the structure was demolished to make way for a new build. An open-ceiling concept was used for most of the space, and the offices have glass walls and doors to add to the open feel. Curved walls were used to make the entrance and lobby area more inviting. A generously-sized cafe area was created not just for employees but also with future events and gatherings in mind. Textured surfaces throughout the building illustrate the impact lighting can have throughout a space, and this concept is reinforced by design touches throughout.
